In France, it is called Art Nouveau, in Spain it is called innovativeism and in England it is called modern style. [1] Modernism is defined as a practice of contemporary lifestyle or thoughts that influenced every aspect of art, architecture and literature that makes them flowing or representing future. Other historians regard Modernism as a matter of taste, a reaction against eclecticism and the lavish stylistic excesses of Victorian Era and Edwardian Art Nouveau.

Modernism was a movement of artists and designers who rebelled against late 19th century academic and historicist traditions and embraced the natural economic, social and political aspects of the emerging modern world. Some severalise the 20th century into modern and postmodern periods where else others pay heed them as two parts of the same large period. What is modernism in architecture term? Modern architecture is usually characterized as an emphasis of horizontal and vertical lines, a simplification of form and elimination of unnecessary detail, form follows function and a universe of ornament using the structure and theme of the building or a rejection of ornamentation.
