Julie Andrews
Some see Julie Andrews as one of the virtually influential musical theatre performers of the oddment half of the 20th century. Others, myself included, wish that she could be their honorary grandmother and just sing Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious and My Favorite Things with them all day long. Whether you handle to respect her brilliance from a distance or indirect request nothing more than to have a pajama party with her, comparable in the recent film The Princess Diaries II, there is certainly no denying that Julie Andrewss performances have had a major impact on the lives of many. Thanks to the success of the films Mary Poppins and The Sound of Music, she has become a beloved household name and her performances are sure to be treasured by many generations to come.
Julie Andrews was born on October 1, 1935 in Walton on Thames, Surrey, England to Barbara and Edward C. Wells. Her mother was a piano player and traveled around performing constantly during Julies childhood. She was never in truth close to her mother because she was always away at round performance, but to this day her mother remains one of the most influential people of her life. It was from her mother that she inherited her musical cognizance and her infamous perfect pitch.
When Julie was very young her parents separated, and her mother remarried a man named Ted Andrews who she had performed in a musical act with for twosome of years. Ted would sing and Barbara would play the piano. Ted was actually the first one to ascertain Julie how to sing. In the spring of 1943, when she was only seven years old, Julie began victorious singing lessons with Ted and enrolled in a conservatory for the performing humanities in London where her aunt was a dance instructor. She had a very rigorous schedule for her age. In the mornings she would take her pedantic classes and then in the afternoons she would take ballet, tap, and theatre dancing (Andrews 37).
