Along for the Ride was about Auden, a girl who has been trapped in academics and never experiencing childhood. Her parents got divorced at an early age leaving her to spend her nights walking the floor, becoming an insomniac. She decided to spend her summer after senior social class in her dads beach where she acquired many novel characteristics and hobbies. She met this boy, Eli who drastically changed view on both boys and life in general. Auden always judged people based on their first impressions and how they came forth when she first saw them.
One of the major themes in the novel is how Auden is quick to judge everything she sees, although she was often wrong. The two people that she was all in all wrong about happened to be some of the most important people in her life.
She misjudged her step mother Heidi further opinion she was a superficial girl who only cared about mercantile objects as well as Maggie who came out to be wizard of her closest friends. It took Auden some time to realize that she had been wrong in her misconception of others and it made her more open minded.
In continuation, another draw theme in Along for the Ride is to never split up up and keep trying. Through meeting Eli, Auden has realized that you cant just automatically give up if you emit on your first try. The title is significant to this theme because it lifes a journey and you have to be involuntary to get back up and try again.
