A Need for Improvement
Skilled compose communication instantaneously affects any business success. Yet, as important as scripted communication skills is, many people still have a hard time mastering them. Recently, a poorly write communication was circulated in the office which caused a dispute among several employees. This memo has led to hurt feelings, lower morale, and a possible loss of business. By sponsoring a writing workshop, for solely employees, we can strengthen our companys prosperity.
In 1993 a survey of 443 companies was conducted by the Olsten Corp., a temporary-service firm in Westbury, N.Y. (Small task Report, 1994). The study found that 51% of the 443 companies expressed the need for more work-place literate employees. Yet, only 24% have any established literacy programs in place. It was also noted in the survey that the widest cattle ranch between the need for better skills and the training spined is in written communication.
