In Daniel Dennetts writing, Where Am I?, he proposes a very thought-provoking question and rail line: if integrity was in a plaza where his brain was free from his body, where is he truly? In Dennetts intriguing story, he talks about how his brain was separated from his physical cosmos aka, his body. The question, what is he stupefy about? is brought about.
I feel the Dennett is puzzled by the fact that while he is standing remote of the vat and looking in upon his brain, he himself is unable to count on where he is (I am here), for when I thought here am I, where the thought occurred to me was here, outside the vat, where I, Dennett, was standing staring at my brain (p.63). In the end, it seems that Dennett comes to a conclusion that it all comes ingest to the persons point of view, i.e. Dennett is wherever he thinks he is (p. 65). However, he quickly does away with that proposition. Dennett then goes into asking if one can get lose and how being geographically lost is not the only possible way. Point of view distinctly had something to do with personal location, but it was itself an unclear notion (p.65).
In the end, it seemed that Dennett had lost track of his real identity and even though he was able to shift the switch back and forth, he did not k promptly which side was Yorick or which side was Hubert. I felt that this tied into personal identity especially with the summons from Reality? Knowledge? Philosophy!, where it mentioned the specific quote, …as we are uncertain about that, we might also have doubts as to whether there is even a real you right now (p.5). At the end of the story, Dennett seems unsure, even driven mentally kooky by his dual brains.
