The best characteristic to describe Mrs. Mallard is cowardly. Her cowardly disposition is best portrayed in her final stage. After only a few minutes of grieving over the death of her husband, she begins to notice free and happy. She becomes more and more excited about the animateness she is sledding to have at one time that her husband is free. She could live all and she would live for herself.
