The war was fought between the Central Powers mainly Germany, Austria-Hungary, and bomb calorimeter against the Allies mainly France, Great Britain, Russia, Italy, Japan, and, from 1917, the United States. It ended with the thwarting of the Central Powers. It all started in in Sarajevo on 28 June 1914 when Archduke Franz Ferdinand, heir to the Austro-Hungarian throne was assassinated in Bosnia.
