Obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD), a geek of anxiety disorder, is a potentially disabling illness that traps peck in endless cycles of repetitive thoughts and behaviors. Through the last 10 years I have observed my grandpa by riding in the vehicle with him as he droves over any railroad crossing. The more I watch and come upon him talk I have come to conclusion that this reason is operant conditioning. The effect of his train/tractor accident has made him be diagnosed with Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD). With this comes positive reinforce and also controvert reinforcement. The positive reinforcement is that after he finally cured from the accident there is a positive side that he knows he is strong enough to live through one of the most deadly accidents.
So after he crosses and has his daunt hind end he comes back through and realizes that he can survive.
The reinforcement on the negative side is that every term that he drives up to or on to a railroad crossing he stops for a couple seconds and sits and thinks around what has happened. He told me that, its like he blacks out and goes back to that time and he gets a visual of the train. Also when he gets into a certain size tractor he tenses up. So the negative reinforcement is the superstitious behavior.
