In this paper, we compare the governance choices of family and nonfamily firms regarding their outsourcing tendencies. We argue that family firms and nonfamily firms differ in subcontracting decisions. We build on transaction cost theory to violate and test a model explaining how subcontractors with kinship ties, importance of business enterprise activities, and cost concern affect subcontracting in family firms. Our empirical results leave alone evidence nearly these determinants. We conclude by discussing further research implications.
